Hi all this is our dog Charlie we got Charlie from Lonesum D Ranch on March 20 2015. She was already 3 month old. She is the female pup of Kate and Pepto. She is now 6 months and 2 weeks old. Charlie is very smart she is already house trained and answers to command most of the time to sit ,come and stay. We love her very much. I work with individuals with developmental delay and Autism. A couple of weeks ago I brought Charlie to meet a group of these people and we were all surprised at what happened. Everyone in the group was excited to see her, she is so friendly and calm. They all went to her and petted her and played with her for quite a while. We took her for a walk and then came back, the group sat back down and then Charlie went over to 2 individuals who did not join in. When Charlie came, they just stayed at their seats and continued what they were doing. Both of these individuals are quite involved with their Autism, to the point that they rarely engage with others, do not make eye contact, rarely talk or make their needs known to others. Charlie went and sat under the chair of one of the men and after being there for about 10 minutes, Much to our surprise he slowly reached down and started to pet Charlie and he began to talk to her, he said…..nice dog …good dog……… you are happy to see me…I see a dog every day when I walk to work he is not happy to see me he barks at me………..you are a nice dog….. He continued to interact for about 20 minutes. Charlie did not jump up on him she let him pet her and play with her . He eventually went back to work. Charlie went to the other man who had not joined in. She sat at his feet and waited. This individual is usually very loud but can only form a few words. Today he was very quiet for the whole time Charlie was there. He had been watching Charlie and saying nothing . Soon he reached down and petted Charlie and said over and over Dog Dog. Charlie and visited for about 2 hours and everyone was amazed at the effect she had on all of the group. The next day the one man was still much calmer than usual and he kept saying dog. When asked of Charlie should come back he said yes…. The other individual asked Can Charlie come back and the whole group agreed. Charlie has been good for us too. When we got Charlie I had High blood pressure and was very nervous and unhealthy. I walk Charlie 3 times a day and we play all the time. I have lost 25 lbs and my blood pressure is normal. I am enjoying bringing Charlie to volunteer and will continue to do that . We are very excited to see how our group will interact in the future to her… Thank you for our beautiful dog Charlie we thank God every day for her.
